Temporary Closure of Nuttery Play Area
Please note that the under 5’s play area will be closed during Friday 30th November and Saturday 1st December to enable minor repairs to be completed (weather permitting).
These repairs to the play surface are being carried out under guarantee following identification of some small areas that have subsided.
Abbots Bromley Parish Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
Many thanks for your cooperation.
Village Garage to Close
The garage has been an important part of village life having provided a convenient, local and friendly service that included not only sales and servicing but also MOT’s, parts and body repairs.
Edwin Ferneyhough, the owner of Market Place Garage and a popular local figure, will be continuing in the motor trade just a few miles away in nearby Uttoxeter. He has taken the position of Sales Director with Angus Mackinnon Ltd, another well-respected local business, and this combination will provide a greater level of support for the community’s motoring needs.
Mackinnon’s are a family run business of over 30 years duration. Their relatively new premises on Derby Road has ample parking and provides a comprehensive service for all motorists. Apart from buying and selling both new and used vehicles of any make, there is a fully equipped insurance approved Accident Repair Centre, workshop and MOT bays. Additionally there is also a fast fit tyre and exhaust bay as well as a vehicle hire and valeting service.
Edwin says, “Closing Market Place Garage was a tough, but necessary business decision and being born and bred in Abbots Bromley I am very aware of how much a part of village life the garage has been. I would just like to reassure all of our customers that I will be able to provide the same personal service with much better facilities in the future”
The closure of the village garage marks the end of an era in Abbots Bromley, however you can still enjoy the same service using Edwin in his new role at Angus Mackinnon.
Contact Edwin on 07939 207232 or 01889 563448 for all your motoring needs in the future.
Finally Edwin and the staff of Market Place Garage would like to thank all of their customers for their support over the years.
Path re-construction – Invitation to Tender
The area to be reconstructed is the circular path around part of the circumference of the play area at the Millennium Green. This area is approximately 28 metres in length, and averages 1.1 metres in width. The area to be restored also includes the patch by the gates linking the path to the tarmac drive leading up to the village hall. (It does not include the sloping path that leads up to the picnic area.)
Since originally installed, this area has deteriorated due to the ingress of vegetation and partial erosion of the surface.
The Parish Council wishes the path to be restored to original condition by:
- Removal of vegetation from existing path
- Removal of existing surface to a depth of 50mm
- Addition of new surface mechanically compacted to the level of the wood surrounds and tarmac drive to create an even footway that can be safely used by wheelchairs, prams and pushchairs
For a copy of the invitation to tender, contact the Parish Clerk on 01283-840153.
