Best Kept Village 2019!

This year not only did we compete against our local villages in East Staffordshire but we also were in competition with villages from the Moorlands, so the efforts by all of the Village to win this accolade means even more.

Best Kept Village presentation 2019 The new sponsors of the competition, Lafarge, are the providers of the post and subsequently the design is based on their logo. Many of you will have noticed this new plaque does not have our previous winning plaques on it; we have asked that this is rectified and our last three winning plaques also be affixed.

It was with great pleasure to receive the award from the Judges on the morning of the 5th October, where so many of the people and groups who helped make this happen turned out to watch the presentation.

It goes without saying that winning such an accolade takes enormous effort and a special thanks must go to all the groups and individuals that helped keep areas of the village tidy throughout the competition. Judges specifically commented on Abbots Bromley’s ability to involve so many people in the efforts. A big thank you must go to all the children at Richard Clarke First School and Abbots Bromley School for all of the wonderful posters they produced and also to those who placed a BKV poster in their windows along the main road, we do get points awarded for this and this year it was noted by the judges that we had a good show of posters on display.

Thank you!

We’ll need to put in a massive effort next year if we are to retain the award for a 4th year but let’s go for it!

Festive Tractors in Abbots Bromley on 8th December 2019

Christmas tractors Arranged by South Staffs Water and Staffordshire Young Farmers Clubs, the cavalcade of tractors will be lit up with Christmas lights on the evening of 8 December and will travel a 20-mile route through the villages of Hamstall Ridware, Abbots Bromley, Blithfield and Colton.
The event is being held in aid of three charities; WaterAid, Staffordshire Young Farmers Clubs and The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.

Nina Yiannoukos-Benton, senior catchment advisor at South Staffs Water, said:
“We work really closely with the Staffordshire Farmers, to make sure their work doesn’t affect the quality of the river water and in turn, the water that we treat and provide to our customers, so it’s amazing to be involved in arranging this tractor run. It’s going to be a lot of festive fun, as well as raising money for three important charities. We want everyone to get involved; come and watch the convoy along the route or join the festivities at the finish held at Cowley Hill Farm, Hamstall Ridware.”

AB Neighbourhood Development Plan Update – August 2019

All information has been passed to Urban Vision (Consultants commissioned to produce the policies for the Abbots Bromley Parish NDP).

Following a productive NDPG led meeting at the Urban Vision office in Liverpool on Tuesday 13th August 2019, we wish to report that they are now undertaking to produce a ‘first outline’ of the Policies that will constitute the basis of the NDP.

In the coming weeks the NDPG will produce an information leaflet outlining all the Policy areas with a brief description of the aims of each policy. Recognising community opinion and the importance placed on heritage and conservation, the leaflet will also identify proposed Local Green Spaces to be incorporated into the NDP.

A ‘feedback’ sheet will accompany the leaflet enabling all residents to provide a general response/comment indicating support or otherwise in respect of the Policy headings, their aims and the proposed Local Green Spaces.

It is important that residents also provide brief detailed reasons for their response (whether for or against), as this information will be used by the Consultant to amend and finalise the Policies for initial presentation to the Parish Council and ESBC in September 2019.

The NDPG also intend to arrange at least one ‘drop in session’ to display the Policy headings, aims and proposed Local Green Spaces to enable residents to discuss the proposals and offer feedback. This session is likely to be held towards the end of August/early September. The date will be widely publicised.

The NDP is a parish-wide Community Plan produced by the Parish for the benefit of the Parish. Therefore, your continued input is essential.
