Abbots Bromley Parish Council is saddened by the announcement of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Parish Councillors thoughts are with King Charles III, The Queen Consort and the Royal Family at this sad time.

After her decades of extraordinary service to Britain and the Commonwealth, where she was recognised as an outstanding ambassador for our nation, and the embodiment of dignity, on behalf of the Parish, we offer our condolences to the Royal Family.

A Book of Condolence is open at Uttoxeter Town Hall, 19 High Street, Uttoxeter, ST14 7HP

The councillors and officers of Staffordshire County Council are deeply saddened at the news of the death of HM The Queen, Elizabeth II.

Our thoughts are with the Royal family at this time.

If you would like to pay your respects there are the following options available:

Online condolence book

An online condolence book is available to sign on the official web site of the British Monarchy. Please note this website is experiencing a high volume of traffic and you may not currently be able to access it.

Local condolence book

If you wish to sign a condolence book in person, you can do so at various locations across the county. Designated areas for laying floral tributes are also listed under each district. Please ensure you use the designated arranged areas. Or if you would prefer you can sign the local online condolence book.

Proclamations

After the national proclamation day, county and borough proclamations will be held at various locations across Staffordshire.

Two minutes silence

On day ten of the mourning period, the chairman, alongside the Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, will hold a two minutes silence at 11am on the steps of the Shire Hall in the Market Square, Stafford. We welcome anyone who wishes to attend.

Each district/borough may also hold a two minutes silence at 11am on the same day.

The day after the funeral, the period of mourning will come to an end and the books of condolence will close at 5pm.

East Staffordshire Borough Council have provided the following:

Following the announcement by Buckingham Palace of the death of Her Majesty The Queen, East Staffordshire Borough Council has released the following statement.

Councillor George Allen, Leader of the Council, said: “On behalf of East Staffordshire Borough Council I would like to express our sadness at this time. All of our thoughts are with the family.”

Andy O’Brien, Chief Executive, added: “Everyone at the Council is very saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. The Council has now entered an official period of mourning and will follow its protocol for marking the death of a member of the Royal Family.”

The Union Flag at the Town Hall in Burton upon Trent will be flown at half-mast until the morning after the state funeral apart from on the day of the proclamation and the day after proclamation. All other flags at the Town Hall will be removed during this period.

A book of condolence will be opened on Friday 9th September 2022 and will be available to members of the public to sign from 9:30am until 5:00pm on the day following the state funeral. The book of condolence will be available throughout this period at Burton Town Hall, Uttoxeter Town Hall and St Modwen’s Church in Burton. Alternatively, a book of condolence can be signed online at royal.uk.

The Council would like to request that any memorial flowers are left by the War Memorial in Burton upon Trent. Flowers left outside the flag poles at the Town Hall will be respectfully moved to the War Memorial.

Horn Dance Day, Monday, 12th September

 

Horn Dance Day is fast approaching.  The dance will take place in the village and the surrounding area throughout the day on Monday, 12th September.  The leaflet below gives more details on the dance and approximate timings for where the dancers can be found throughout the day.  You can also pick up a printed copy of this leaflet from the village church, Church House and the Top Shop.

There will also be stalls on the Village Green throughout the day selling a wide variety of products including artwork, books, cakes, jewellery, candles and herbs as well as displays in Church.
