I am shortly to begin works on a footway resurfacing scheme at the above location. The work will involve laying a new kerb line along each side of the carriageway then resurfacing the whole length also a small drainage scheme will be constructed to remove isolated flooding.

The Contractor for the works is Staffordshire Highways. The works are planned to begin approximately the week commencing 27th June 2005 and last for approximately 7 weeks. Due to the width of the carriageway it will be necessary to work under temporary traffic control to satisfy the Health and Safety Regulations and on the 1st August the road known as Ashbrook Lane will be closed to all through traffic during the evenings approx times 6pm to 6am during these times the carriageway will be resurfaced.

During the operation a wide range of construction machinery will be in use directly outside of residential properties. I would like to take this opportunity to advise you to exercise caution when exiting properties directly onto the construction area

I apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption the works may cause and ask for your co-operation. If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me on the above telephone number or ask for my assistant engineer, Roy Carr, who will be supervising the works.

Richard Rayson
Divisional Engineer, Burton
