“Lock Snapping” burglaries advice

Published 8 March 2013

This is more commonly known as ‘lock snapping’ where an object is used to snap the lock cylinder. Unless your doors are quite new it is likely that the locks on your doors can be forced in this way.

You might wish to look at upgrading your locks to a new ‘anti-snap cylinder lock’ which will overcome the problem. Further information can be found by visiting http://www.securedbydesign.com or by contacting a reputable locksmith.

In addition to this advice, the majority of these burglaries have occurred at the rear of properties via patio and kitchen doors. Please take a minute to review the security at the rear of your property and make any amendments if necessary.
