The group is to focus on providing facilities for teenagers in the community. Anyone wishing to participate in or able to support the group (Adults or teenagers) is welcome to attend.
Prior to the meeting at 7.00 pm, there will be an opportunity to make contact with the County Youth Forums, serving the wider community. This is an opportunity to raise local issues, such as facilities, transport, support, funding etc. affecting teenagers
Taking place in the village hall, this year there will be an opportunity to hear speakers on topics of current relevance to the community:

Moving and touchingly funny, this will remind us that getting older doesn’t mean that life gets more boring!
In Act One, Michael (a classical actor) and Tommy (a 2nd rate song and dance man) both now live in an actor’s retirement home. Their ‘love/hate’ relationship makes for some hilarious situations and caustic ‘one-liners’. The arrival of a new, female, resident throws their world upside down when Michael realizes that she is a lost love from his earlier career. The new guest sadly now suffers from Alzhiemers disease, but, does she still recognize Michael?
In Act Two, Amber and her brother Gerald spend every Summer at their beach hut in Southwold, Suffolk. Amber is unfulfilled and now almost happy to play the ‘delicate spinster’ along side her doting but rather dull and obsessive brother. However, one day, Bob, from Nottingham, arrives on the beach, along with his metal detector and life for Amber is never quite the same again!!!
All tickets cost £5 and are available from the Post Office, pubs and members of the Village Hall committee.
A special edition of the Bromley Bulletin will be delivered in the next few days to draw attention to the wind farm application for those who are as yet unaware of it.
With the Bulletin will be a short questionnaire that will help inform the Parish Council about local opinions. It also has space to draw attention to any key facts that the Council may wish to take into account in preparing a response to the consultation.
On Saturday 16th February the Environment Statement and plans will be available for inspection from 0930 to 1230 in Church House. Some of the Councillors may also be present for part of this time.
An extra meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Friday 22nd February in the village hall at 7:30pm. This is an extra meeting that will be dedicated to the wind farm proposal. It will provide residents of Abbots Bromley with an opportunity to express their own views and listen to those of others.
(There are ordinary meetings of the Parish Council scheduled for 30th January and 27th February. Due to other business on the agenda, there may be little or no opportunity to discuss the wind farm on those occasions but the meeting on 22nd will not be similarly constrained.)
Note that Parish Councils in other villages are also being included in the consultation. Residents of those villages should make their contributions to the consultation via their own Parish Council.
The application to construct eight 110 metre (361 feet) high wind turbines has been received by East Staffordshire Borough Council.

Note that the files of forms and drawings are quite large – 36Mb and 9Mb respectively.
Due to the size of the proposed development, this will be subjected to an extended consultation period.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 87 (2) of the Local Government Act, 1972 that a vacancy has arisen in the office of Councillor for the said Parish.
Unless notice in writing of a request for an election to fill the vacancy, signed by ten electors for the said Parish, is received by the Chief Executive of the East Staffordshire Borough Council, Town Hall, Burton upon Trent, DE14 2EB by not later than the twenty-ninth day of January 2008, the vacancy shall be filled by the Parish within sixty days of the date of this Notice.

The garage has been an important part of village life having provided a convenient, local and friendly service that included not only sales and servicing but also MOT’s, parts and body repairs.
Edwin Ferneyhough, the owner of Market Place Garage and a popular local figure, will be continuing in the motor trade just a few miles away in nearby Uttoxeter. He has taken the position of Sales Director with Angus Mackinnon Ltd, another well-respected local business, and this combination will provide a greater level of support for the community’s motoring needs.
Mackinnon’s are a family run business of over 30 years duration. Their relatively new premises on Derby Road has ample parking and provides a comprehensive service for all motorists. Apart from buying and selling both new and used vehicles of any make, there is a fully equipped insurance approved Accident Repair Centre, workshop and MOT bays. Additionally there is also a fast fit tyre and exhaust bay as well as a vehicle hire and valeting service.
Edwin says, “Closing Market Place Garage was a tough, but necessary business decision and being born and bred in Abbots Bromley I am very aware of how much a part of village life the garage has been. I would just like to reassure all of our customers that I will be able to provide the same personal service with much better facilities in the future”
The closure of the village garage marks the end of an era in Abbots Bromley, however you can still enjoy the same service using Edwin in his new role at Angus Mackinnon.

The area to be reconstructed is the circular path around part of the circumference of the play area at the Millennium Green. This area is approximately 28 metres in length, and averages 1.1 metres in width. The area to be restored also includes the patch by the gates linking the path to the tarmac drive leading up to the village hall. (It does not include the sloping path that leads up to the picnic area.)
Since originally installed, this area has deteriorated due to the ingress of vegetation and partial erosion of the surface.

Abbots Bromley Parish Council is looking for a successor to the present Clerk, who is retiring at the start of 2008. The successful applicant will be a good communicator, have excellent organisational skills, and be a confident user of office technology (word processing, simple spreadsheets, and the internet). Candidates should be willing to update their skills through training which is funded by the Council. Someone interested in obtaining the CiLCA qualification, if not already held, would be an asset.
The position is home based with flexible working hours and requires a commitment of 42.5 hours each month with some evening work for Council meetings 12 evenings per year. The post holder will be entitled to all statutory holidays and a leave entitlement equivalent to 4 weeks.
The appointment will be made within salary scale LC1 (£7.85 to £10.52 per hour) of the nationally agreed rates for Local Council Clerks, depending on relevant experience and qualifications. Expenses and an allowance for the use of home as office are also payable.
